The admission process starts with the submission of the following documents:
- Application Form (along with the application fee of $60.00 for domestic applicants, and $75.00 for international applicants)
- Recommendation Letters
- Statement of Purpose (include your academic goals)
- Official Undergraduate Transcript showing the Degree conferred
Two recommendation letters are required for applicants from the USA and Canada.
Three recommendation letters are required for international applicants.
For international applicants:
- TOEFL and GRE Scores
- Affidavit of Support and supporting documentation (i.e. bank statement)

DO NOT send the application form and any of the documents to The Rackham School of Graduate Studies in Ann Arbor.
The application is evaluated by the Admissions Committee of the Automotive Systems Engineering program, and if all documents are in proper order, the response is given within two weeks for domestic applicants. The undergraduate transcripts of international applicants are evaluated by the Graduate Board using a 4-point scale and according to the University of Michigan standard. The processing time varies for international applicants, based on the amount of applications we receive. Rest assured that we will process your application as quickly as possible.
