Title: Rotary CNC with Laser Interface
Team Members: Gerry Hermann, Redhawan Saleh
ECE Advisor: A. Shaout

Abstract
The project consists of a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) for a single rotary axis based on a microcontroller.  The microcontroller is a S12UB board from Freescale, which is built around the HC/S12 processor.  The resulting equipment will be used at an industrial laser applications lab at the GSI facility in
Novi, Michigan.

Title: Speech to Text Application

Team Members: Anna Garcia, Bilal Ghalib, Evan Musu, and Aaron Stokes

Abstract

The application translates speech to text using Microsoft SAPI 5.3 speech engine. The 5.3 version of SAPI is only compatible with Windows Vista. The program can do translation of speech through .wav file in mono format or through live use of a microphone. The defined grammar and the use of SAPI functions allow a user to translate his/her speech to text.

Title: Lever-Driven Wheelchair Project

ME Members: David Kosmalski, Bradley Krul, Michael Ligeski, and Nathan Stewart

ME Advisor:  Alan Argento

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to redesign the drive mechanism for a simple wheelchair.  Medical studies have shown that the current wheel driven chair can provide repetitive motion injuries for wheelchair users, and that a more comfortable alternative is advisable.  A hand driven lever system and gearbox has been designed and implemented in a wheelchair to improve the efficiency and reduce injury.
