Engineering/Computer Science Experience
and contest for high school students

The ninth annual Engineering/Computer Science Experience is scheduled on Saturday, March 22, 2014, in the Institute for Advanced Vehicle Systems building on the UM-Dearborn campus. Junior- and senior-level high school students are invited to participate in one of four contests--robotics, programming, simulation, or game design--to compete for the following prizes:

ROBOTICS
First Place: $2,000 CECS Scholarship or $1,000 Cash Award
Second Place: $1,500 CECS Scholarship or $750 Cash Award
Third Place: $1,000 CECS Scholarship or $500 Cash Award

PROGRAMMING
First Place: $2,000 CECS Scholarship or $1,000 Cash Award
Second Place: $1,500 CECS Scholarship or $750 Cash Award
Third Place: $1,000 CECS Scholarship or $500 Cash Award

SIMULATION
First Place: $2,000 CECS Scholarship or $1,000 Cash Award
Second Place: $1,500 CECS Scholarship or $750 Cash Award

GAME DESIGN
First Place: $2,000 CECS Scholarship or $1,000 Cash Award
Second Place: $1,500 CECS Scholarship or $750 Cash Award

Each contest requires that students be registered as part of a two-person team. Registration for this event (by a teacher/counselor sponsor) will be open from January 30 to March 5, 2014.

Space is limited. The maximum number of teams for each competition is: robotics: 50 teams; programming: 50 teams; simulation: 10 teams; and game design: 25 teams.

Schools are initially limited to registering 6 teams for the robotics competition, 6 teams for the programming competition, and 3 teams for the game design competition. This is the first year for the simulation competition; schools are limited to initially registering 1 team for this contest.
