    20 hours a week

    Duties
    Develop, program and maintain existing and new applications (mostly web-based) for the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Efficiently implement necessary classes, interfaces, services and extensions as defined by project leader. Work with team members to complete assignments on schedule. Assist in researching and implementing new technologies as appropriate.

    Department Qualifications
    Required:
    Proficiency in current programming languages applicable to web site production, especially in PHP. Experience with SQL programming, database integration, table creation needed. Understanding of object oriented programming is expected. Ability to navigate a unix filesystem, use of a unix editor (vi,emacs) and develop efficiently in linux. Ability to cleanly document and code source. Ability to work in teams and to handle multiple projects.

    Recommended:
    Prior experience writing websites using pear-php modules. Experience with oracle or postgresql helpful. Ability to quickly learn new languages and research answers to problems. Knowledge of version control systems (CVS, subversion) helpful but not required.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Some progressively responsible programming experience is necessary. Some working experience with the installation's operating system is desirable. A sample of prior work should be made available.

    Web Graphics Designer

    Hours
    15-20 hours a week

    Duties
    Design templates, layouts, graphics, animations and other related materials for the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Position is specially related to the main engineering website, but other projects may also be necessary to improve upon.

    Department Qualifications
    Required:
    Proficiency in web graphic design tools, specifically Macromedia MX products (Dreamweaver, Flash). Good working knowledge of Photoshop also required. Experience with site layout, user interface and navigation is needed. Knowledge of HTML including CSS is required. Excellent communication skill expected.

    Recommended:
    Knowledge of other design applications, not mentioned in the above requirements may also be helpful (Illustrator). Knowledge of basic computer transfer protocols (FTP) helpful, as well as knowledge of simple unix commands. Most of the site is maintained in PHP so experience with PHP programming and templates are helpful but would not be required.

    Minimum Qualifications
    2 years completed toward a bachelor's degree in graphic design OR an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. A sample of prior work should be made available.
