Mail Server settings for Mozilla Thunderbird

To receive e-mail, you must configure your e-mail client to use the engineering department's IMAP settings.

Thunderbird go to Edit -> Account Settings -> Server Settings and change the server to mail.engin.umd.umich.edu then select SSL

To send e-mail, you must configure your e-mail client to use the engineering department's settings.

Note: You can now use the Engineering outgoing mail server to send out email from off campus now.

Thunderbird go to Edit -> Account Settings -> Outgoing Server and change the server name to mail.engin.umd.umich.edu
The outgoing mail server uses secure authentication to send out email. The use name and password checkbox must be checked with your correct username in the approprate field. You will also need to select TLS as the secure connection type.
