The University of Michigan-Dearborn will host the 5th IEEE International Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference (VPPC’09) later this year, under the leadership of Chris Mi, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, who will serve as the general chair of the conference.
“It’s appropriate to hold this conference in Dearborn, the heartland of automotive industry, since our theme is ‘Sustainability: Hybrid, Plug-in, Fuel Cell and Battery Technology,’” Mi said.
Among other activities, the conference will include keynote speeches by top executives of major automotive companies, as well as presentations from government and academic experts. In addition, a special banquet will be held at the Henry Ford.
The conference, to be held September 7-11, will feature five technical tracks, 20 special sessions, a technical forum, six tutorials and an exhibition. It is co-sponsored by the IEEE Power Electronics Society and the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society.
“The organizing committee is working very hard to make this a successful conference and the conference of choice for people in this field,” Mi said. “We also will be looking for volunteers, including students, who will be allowed free admission to parts of the conference.”
For more information, contact the conference publicity chair, Aisha Yousuf, at ayousuf@ieee.org or Mi at mi@ieee.org. Additional details can be found at http://ewh.ieee.org/conf/vppc/.
