Zhiming Shi, PhD
Zhiming Shi received his Ph. D. in 2005 from the University of Queensland (UQ) in Australia. For his PhD research, he studied the influence of alloying elements, phase composition and impurities on the corrosion performance of anodized coatings on cast magnesium alloys. He also developed an environment-friendly anodization technique and evaluated the corrosion resistance of anodized and un-anodized magnesium alloys using both industrial standards and fast electrochemical methods. As a visiting scholar at the Cooperative Research Centre for Cast Metals Manufacturing (CAST) in UQ, he was involved in research projects on the characterization of corrosion of magnesium alloys in coolants and development of corrosion control methods of magnesium alloys for bio-applications, such as an absorbable metal stent in vessels. He has published four journal papers in Corrosion Science and Surface Coating and Technology, and presented three conference papers.
