The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) offers several tuition scholarships based on academic achievement.
Scholarships for incoming CECS students
- Incoming students automatically considered for awards; only Aswad scholarship needs application
- All scholarships consider earned grades; ACT scores also considered for freshmen scholarships
- Scholarship recipients need to enroll full-time in an approved CECS degree program
- Some awards are renewable for a second year for students who maintain a minimum 2.75 grade point average and continue to enroll in an approved CECS degree program
The Chrysler Scholarships
Eligibility: for incoming freshmen and incoming transfer students majoring in engineering or computer science.
Amount of awards: $1000 to $2,000 per year towards tuition
The Ford Motor Company Scholarships
Eligibility: For incoming freshmen and incoming transfer students majoring in engineering or computer science.
Amount of awards: $1000 to $2,000 per year towards tuition
The General Motors Scholarships
Eligibility: For incoming freshmen majoring in engineering or computer science.
Amount of award: up to $1000 per year towards tuition
The Henry Patton Endowed Scholarships

The Henry Patton Endowed Scholarships are awarded to students in electrical engineering or computer engineering from a bequest to the College of Engineering and Computer Science by Henry W. Patton II, the founder, president, and CEO of Acromag.
Eligibility: For incoming freshmen and incoming transfer students majoring in electrical or computer engineering.
Amount of awards: $1000 to $5,000 per year towards tuition
The A. Adnan Aswad Transfer Scholarship

The A. Adnan Aswad Transfer Scholarship is awarded each year from an endowment given by Dr. Aswad, former professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering. Eligibility: Incoming transfer student who is:
- Majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering or in Manufacturing Engineering
- Has earned at least 40 transferable credit hours towards the B.S.E. degree
- Has a GPA of 3.00 or higher in transferable courses towards the B.S.E. degree
- Submits a letter of reference from an advisor or instructor and a personal statement
Award: One tuition award of $3,000 for the academic year, not renewable.

Scholarships for continuing CECS students: Juniors and Seniors
- Multiple tuition scholarships (ranging up to $2,000 per year) are awarded each year to CECS junior or senior applicants who have already completed at least twelve credits at U of M-Dearborn
- Applicants need a U of M-Dearborn grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- CECS mails application information to eligible continuing juniors and seniors
- Students may reapply in successive years for some awards
- Women and students from an under-represented ethnic minority are strongly encouraged to apply
The General Dynamics Scholarships
Eligibility: CECS students majoring in engineering or computer science
Amount of awards: $1000 to $1,500 per year towards tuition
The Chrysler Scholarships
Eligibility: CECS students majoring in engineering or computer science
Amount of awards: $1000 to $1,500 per year towards tuition
The Detroit Edison Scholarships
Eligibility: CECS students majoring in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Amount of awards: $1000 to $2,000 per year towards tuition
The Frederick P. and Violet Sharpe Endowed Scholarships
Eligibility: CECS students or CECS transfer students from Henry Ford Community College majoring in engineering or computer science. Preference is given to U.S. citizens who were citizens of British Commonwealth Countries or whose parents were citizens of those countries.
Amount of awards: $1000 to $2,500 per year towards tuition
The College of Engineering and Computer Science's Co-operative Education Program
The CECS Co-op Program provides paid internship employment opportunities for CECS undergraduate students. Each year engineering or computer science students receive about $1.5 million dollars in financial assistance from the salary earned through their CECS Cooperative Education internship placements. General Scholarships
Current and prospective College of Engineering and Computer Science students are also eligible for general scholarships, that is, scholarships awarded to students in any major. Both need-based and merit-based scholarships, student loans, and other financial aid programs are available to U of M-Dearborn students.
